Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Each year the Council for British Archaeology (CBA), with the Marsh Christian Trust, makes three awards to individuals and projects involved in community archaeology. This article introduces the awards and outlines the merits and achievements of the winners for 2015, announced in November at the CBA's annual general meeting at the British Academy in London. The categories and winners are: Young Archaeologist of the Year: William Fakes, from the Leeds branch of the Young Archaeologists' Club; Community Archaeologist of the Year: Jon Kenny from York, who was involved with the Greater York Community Archaeology Project and now runs a history club with York People first, a self-advocacy group for people with learning difficulties; and the Marsh Award for Community Archaeology: the London Wreck Project, a team of three volunteers who have been instrumental to the recording and management of the wreck of the London, a historically significant 17th century ship that lies off the Essex coast.
