Abstract:
Short item highlighting the recent announcement of a further period of consultation on what should be done about the A303 at Stonehenge in Wiltshire. The consultation is necessary because of a significant increase in the projected costs of an earlier favoured scheme to create a bored tunnel for the road. In addition, English Heritage is appealing against Salisbury District Council's decision to refuse planning consent for a new visitor centre at Stonehenge; the matter will now be examined by public enquiry.
