Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Illustrates the value of aerial photography to the historian with reference to the siege of Duncannon Fort (Co Wexford) by troops of the Confederation of Kilkenny in 1645. By comparing aerial photographs of the fort with a contemporary map of the siege, it is possible to show that not only did the besieging force use the latest techniques of siege warfare but were technically ahead of their time. Concludes with an `Appendix' (13) discussing the sources and interpretation of aerial photographs. | ||||||
