The author of Ireland and the Normans: progress or decline?, which is one of a new series of textbooks on Irish history, discusses the purpose and scope of the book and the difficulties entailed in writing for young readers. The series, which is designed for eleven to sixteen-year-olds, is written by historians, school inspectors and teachers from both UK and Ireland, and is designed both to confront controversial issues and to challenge prejudicial notions of Irish history. |
