Abstract:
The winning entry in the junior category of Trinity College Dublin's Schools' Competition in History for 1996, this article traces the origins and development of an inner city wholesale fruit and vegetable market opened by Dublin Corporation in 1892. Also considers the need to conserve the building (perhaps as a tourist attraction) while catering for the needs of the people who work in it.
