Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Discusses the history of the ferry and describes the unusual way in which the force of the current is harnessed to propel it along a cable across the river. Only two other ferries, at Upper Arley (also on the Severn in Hereford & Worcester) and Rownham (on the Bristol Avon), are known to operate in this manner. The cable-guided ferries at Symonds Yat on the Wye (Hereford & Worcester) are compared, but these rely on human muscle-power. | ||
