A variant of principal components analysis, and a cluster analysis, were performed on earliest Neo waste flakes. Results gave promise of separating Late Meso from Neo assemblages even in the absence of diagnostic tools. An explanatory model of change is outlined based on evidence for increasing difficulty in obtaining supplies of good flint, accompanied by increasing craft specialization and declining skills of the ordinary individual. | |||||
