Summarises previous investigations and current knowledge of Caistor and its hinterland before noting the results of excavations conducted in 1992, at Varlow's Yard, North Kelsey Road. A large feature, thought to be the Roman defensive ditch, was identified and a later Saxon occupation was recorded. Later medieval deposits had been truncated by nineteenth-century levelling operations. | |||||||||
