Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Following Mike Baillie's analysis of the evidence for an environmental catastrophe in the mid-sixth century (see 99/1172) , the present author looks at the documentary evidence for the period and in particular at Gildas's De Excidio Britonum (The Ruin of Britain). This work has long been the subject of dispute, especially its historical section. The author offers a fresh rationale for the whole work which ties in with contemporary events. | ||||||
