Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Outlines the careers of Kilkenny-based English architect, William Robertson (1770-1850), and artist George Miller (fl 1815-19), emphasising the work they did with respect to the Woodstock demesne, near Inistioge, Kilkenny (Co). Robertson had designed a `Swiss cottage' for the gardens at Woodstock and this has now been architecturally reconstructed from Miller's watercolour paintings of the building, which survive in a sketchbook held in the library of the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland, in Dublin. There are plans to rebuild the cottage as part of the ongoing project to restore the gardens and scenic glen at Woodstock. | |||||||||||
