Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Describes the find of two small pieces of hacksilver recovered with a metal detector from a ploughed field near Dysart Castle. The weight standard of the two pieces is that used by Scandinavians of Dublin and the North Sea area during the ninth century. Documentary evidence of Viking activity in ninth-century Co Kilkenny and the finds of early Christian grave slabs at Dysart (see 92/580) support this date. | |||
