Abstract:
General historical account of Frankfort, Co Kilkenny, and the families which have held the townland since the thirteenth century. The ruins of a seventeenth-century house and adjacent eighteenth-century farm are all that remain of Frankfort Castle. An old road passing the castle is traditionally recalled as a Mass road of the Penal Era which was also used by insurgents on their way to battle during the Insurrection of 1798.
