Abstract:
Discusses unpublished revisions made (in the 1920s) by antiquarian William Canon Carrigan of his transcriptions of certain (mainly sixteenth and seventeenth century) funerary inscriptions that appeared in his The history and antiquities of the diocese of Ossory (1905). The inscriptions are from two wayside crosses at Errill and Bonnetstown, three tombstones in St Canice's Cathedral, two tombstones in the old parish church of Callan and those on the tomb of Nicholas Barron at Jerpoint Abbey (all in Co Kilkenny).
