Presents and discusses archaeological evidence for contact between NW France and Central S Britain in 1st millennium BC. A possible early emphasis on the tin trade to late 2nd century BC was succeeded by Roman-dominated wine trade which intensified cross-Channel traffic. ?Armorican middlemen; ports at Alet and Hengistbury.
