Many graves were found in 1900 during railway construction, and a further forty-one inhumations were excavated in 1974. No cremations have been recorded. The 1900 material is also illustrated and briefly discussed; the grave goods run from late 5th through 6th century (over 200 items: ornaments, weapons, shieldbosses, bronze-bound bucket). The relationship between pagan cemeteries, execution cemeteries, 'heathen burial places' and estate and parish boundaries is discussed. Au(adp) | |||||||||
