Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The value of fossil beetles as climatic indicators is well established, and although work on the Flandrian is still in its infancy there are hints that after the close of the Devensian there was a sudden, not gradual, climatic amelioration. The generally temperate climate prevailing thereafter appears to have been marred by intervals of considerably reduced temperatures indicated by the insect faunas at points which broadly match with postulated glacier advances.
