Documentary sources indicate that a major regional ceramic industry was based in the area. Extensive field survey discovered several medieval sites including one directly associated with ceramic production, dating to the fifteenth--sixteenth centuries. Other features including clay pits which may be linked to the industry were also recorded. | ||||
