Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Discusses the theory that the road took a direct route from Oxford, via the village and the ford at Hampton Poyle northwards to Kirtlington. Results indicate that there was no early paved Roman road in the area so alternative alignments for the route are suggested. Considers that the discovery of a number of Roman coins could indicate the presence of seasonal markets near the site. There is a separate section on `Roman coins found west and north of the moat in Kidlington' by Vic Strange & Eberhard Sauer (21). | |||||
