Abstract:
Work in 1994 revealed new evidence for the development of medieval Abingdon during the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. A probable ditched property boundary, later replaced by a stone-paved alley, had medieval buildings dating to the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries built on either side of it. One building has floors set into large scoops while the other had a sequence of hearths and floors. There are notes on: `Pottery' by Lucy Whittingham (171--4); `Human bone' by Angela Boyle (174--5); and `Animal bone' by Nicola Scott (175).
