Abstract:

Notes on the recording of farm buildings and the carrying out of a watching brief during construction works at Sinai Park Farm, Branston, in 2004. The survey included detailed drawings of the timber structures and ground-floor fittings in the two-storey section of the complex, a detailed photographic survey of all standing buildings and further photographs during the watching brief, and rubbings of carpenter's marks. A tree-ring dating report was also prepared. It was concluded that the first phase of the building was originally built as an open barn in the late-fifteenth or early-sixteenth century; this was later modified and a floor inserted during the seventeenth century.
