Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Reports the left-hand side of an inscribed funerary slab found during excavations in 1997. It had been re-used, along with others of its type and fluted column bases, in the heated hall of the fourth-century praetorium. This paper puts forward the hypothesis that it therefore represents part of a substantial mausoleum, probably for the acting-commanding-officer of a regiment in garrison at Vindolanda. | ||
