The significance of a medicine box lid found at Haltern, first published in 1928 and thought to contain herba Britannica is examined. Thought to refer to dock, Pliny the Elder described its use in the treatment of conditions like scurvy and stated how the Romans discovered the plant via the Frisii prior to the conquest of Britain.
