Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Evidence suggests that Gallic involvement in local administration did not follow the orthodox imperial pattern, and that from 1st century AD onwards duties involved in various posts changed to meet changing needs. The peak of the Gallic cursus was the imperial priesthood; officers of the Gallic Council enjoyed less prestige than the high priests, but had had wider experience and also had more opportunity for financial gain during their tenure. Aspects of military careers are also discussed. A T/Ed | |||
