Abstract:
The proportions of tin and lead vary greatly. Finds are mainly of AD 250-410; this may imply a change from the use of near-pure tin to alloys. Vessels and hoards are commonest in the Fens and the Mendips and are rare in the North, but this distribution may be skewed by religious deposition as manufacturing debris and small items like spoons are more evenly spread. A more thorough study of moulds is needed. NW Continental finds are also listed. FB/Ed
