Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
There is ample evidence in the work of Tacitus that he disliked Petillius Cerialis, and therefore is no trustworthy guide to his achievements in Britain. The antecedents of Cerialis are examined, including a possible relative castigated by Tacitus. After a detailed survey of Tacitean references to him the archaeological evidence for Cerialis's achievements is examined including Stanwick. B D | |
