Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Examination of British patterns of recruitment to the legions and auxiliary units in the light of summarised evidence from the Empire as a whole indicates that, with due reservation, it is possible to infer local recruitment to the auxilia from the 80s, and to the legions by mid-2nd century. In each case however it must have taken some time before most of the needs of the army in Britain were met from the island itself. Au(adp) | ||
