Material from several sites is examined but is mostly inconclusive. A wall-painting from Otford and a mosaic from Frampton suggest some acquaintance with Vergil, and the couplet which accompanies the Europa mosaic from Lullingstone seems in style syntax and metre to indicate a close familiarity with Ovid's poetry.
