Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Four radiocarbon dates were obtained from chironomid remains in lake sediments from the Round Loch of Glenhead (Dumfries & Galloway) and compared with conventional bulk dates. Results showed chironomid dates to be younger than their conventional equivalents, although the chironomid sequence included a dating inversion. Nevertheless, these preliminary results are taken to indicate the potential of this technique, notably where conventional dates are adversely affected by older allochthonous carbon. Further evaluation is called for. | ||
