Abstract:
Reports on archaeological recording carried out in conjunction with repair work in 1996 and 1997. The structural history of the church was clarified and extended, and plan of the chantry chapel was revealed. A late eleventh-century decorated grave slab was found reused in later foundations. Includes an appendix entitled `Architectural fragments: documentary evidence for the remodelling of Whorlton Old Holy Cross Church' (147--53).
