Abstract:
Two questions about the Iron Bridge, erected in 1779, remain unanswered -- where exactly the bridge parts were cast, and how they were assembled. Through his work on the construction of the model of the bridge in the Museum of Iron in Coalbrookdale, the author infers the method of assembly of the actual bridge and suggests where its parts were cast.
