Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
A brief outline of the situation and discovery of the site is followed by details of the 1992 excavations. Three main phases of activity were isolated and the site may have been a rectangular enclosure of a type seen in aerial photography from the Welsh Marches, Midlands and Cumbria. The economy of the site, as derived from artefactual and palynological evidence, is thought to have been based on mixed agriculture and husbandry, with domestic industries involving pottery, textiles and iron smithing. The site is placed in a broader regional context where several others of this date are to be found. A stray AS brooch find may or may not represent continued occupation or reuse. | |||||||
