Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Summarises the results of excavation of a Romano-British enclosure which, despite having no other obvious military connection, produced six legionary stamped tiles. Four are examples of a rare consular date stamp and two are of `LXXVV'. The significance of these finds for the interpretation of the site is considered and other legionary tile finds from the North West are discussed. The tiles were possibly part of a shipment from the Holt factory but the hypothesis that they are of more local manufacture is to be tested. | ||||||
