Abstract:
An evaluation and subsequent excavation at the former site of the John Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford investigated a total area of about two hectares across the grounds. The most striking features identified were three large prehistoric ring ditches, one of which contained two possible cremation burials. However, the possible burials and the ditch features themselves had been damaged by later development. Part of a heavily truncated Saxon sunken-featured building, a medieval boundary ditch and the remains of an 18th century brew house were also recorded. LD
