Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Short report on recent archaeological survey and investigations undertaken within Ascott Park, Stadhampton, about 12 kilometres south-east of Oxford. The work was commissioned by Oxfordshire County Council in preparation for improvements to public access and the opening of a Historical Trail in 2010, and has been overseen by Oxfordshire Buildings Trust with the involvement of South Oxfordshire Archaeological Group. The geophysical evidence in general firmly supports the interpretation of a double-pile house with basement and ground-floor terrace in the 'traditional' location, as proposed previously by Mark Bowden of English Heritage. A thorough reappraisal of all the earlier work is currently underway preparatory to formulating a research strategy. LD | ||
