Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Describes the author's research into the possibility that a field beside the A5 south of Dunstable in Bedfordshire, at the junction with the road to Caddington (Dunstable Road), could have been the site of a battle between the armies of Boudica and Paulinus during the Boudican revolt. The types of artefacts and archaeological fieldwork that could provide evidence to support the idea are considered; the former include various metal items associated directly with the battle, and collections of domestic equipment and Iceni pottery discarded by the baggage train.
