This volume is wholly dedicated to a report on the faunal bone assemblages from four sites in Mssachusetts (USA), dating from the period 1630--1825. The study encompasses agricultural and foodways practices, statistical composition of the assemblages, the interpretation of butchery marks, age, and seasonal harvesting patterns of domestic animals. The conclusion discusses theoretical approaches that have been applied to urban assemblages. Appendices give technical details the `Procedures for the analysis' (137--44) and tables for `Mammalian body part representation' (145--53). | ||
