Abstract:
1) Among the coins in the major hoard found in Tingstäde parish on Gotland in autumn 1966 were 777 English and 15 Hiberno-Norse coins. The Irish coins were all imitations of types of Aethelred II and belong to the fifteen years before the battle of Clontarf. 2) New evidence has come to light that the Roman copper coins found at Tara in 1899 were deliberately planted there in order that the party of British Israelites, who had gone to Tara to excavate the Ark of the Covenant, should not have to return entirely empty-handed.
