Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The original scheduling of this monument classified it as a prehistoric fort. However routine fieldwork and further research into earlier records have led to its reinterpretation as a class I henge, particularly similar to the class I `mini-henges' found in northern Scotland. Its situation near to St Quernan's Well, a ritual site thought to be of Celtic origin, may indicate that the site had earlier religious significance. IH | |||
