Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Mössbauer spectroscopy is used to identify the iron compounds responsible for the magnetism of soil samples derived from sedimentary rocks. The high susceptibility component of a soil sample from an archaeological site is shown to be maghaematite (y Fe203). The suggestion of Le Borgne that this may be produced during the burning of organic material is shown to be feasible. Au |
