Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The first stage of a project to reassess the BA material from the Pitt Rivers collection involved thc characterization by means of neutron activation analysis of five of the eleven fabrics so far identified. A dendrogram (using the Centroid method) constructed for the NAA results suggested the existence of four source-groups. Most of the Globular and Barrel Urns had a common source; the Bucket Urn evidence was less decisive. The close links between settlements and urnfields were confirmed, and Martin Down is shown (from several aspects) to stand apart from the other sites. Work continues. | ||
