Abstract:
SU 068673. This scheduled site had been damaged and ploughed down. One of five Neo pits produced a 14C date in mid-3rd millennium bc, with pottery and flints. The ditched barrow contained (1) a central coffined burial with wristguard, bone ring, and Wessex/Middle Rhine Beaker; (2) the head and feet of an ox; (3) a child's skeleton. Three 14C dates in earlier 2nd millennium bc relate to the barrow activity. Discussion of the Neo-BA flints, the associated 'Wessex linear ditch system', human and animal bones, pottery. D G
