Abstract:
At least ten sites in mid-Wales show a consistent pattern of association between copper mineralization, small opencast workings, and primitive stone tools; as Copa Hill appears little affected by later mining activity it was chosen for excavation. Material for 14C dating obtained from sealed and undisturbed contexts gave results lying between 1685 and 810 cal BC. More interdisciplinary research is needed.
