Abstract:
This article presents a documentary study of the Templar Manor at Chelverscote (now Chilverscoton), integrating the results of archaeological investigations undertaken in 2004 with those from earlier investigations. The remains of a building and water management features thought to be associated with the Templar occupation of the site were recorded in 2004. The original building had subsequently been rebuilt; a large amount of 13th to 14th century pottery was associated with this later medieval phase. Throughout the post-medieval period the site became increasingly industrial, with the domestic buildings being abandoned. Activities at this time were largely associated with mining and brick production.
