Abstract:		 Two small burnt mounds were excavated at Stoneyburn, near Crawford, Lanarkshire; both produced Bronze Age radiocarbon dates and evidence that they were cooking places. An Appendix `Two burnt mounds in Annandale discovered during topsoil stripping' (23--8) records mounds at Muirhead and Cleuchside, Dumfriesshire, including contributions by Camilla Dickson on `Environmental material' [Muirhead] (25) and `Environmental evidence' [Cleuchside] (27).
