Describes and discusses two entirely separate sheets of drawings of Roman sculptured stones, chiefly distance slabs from the Antonine Wall or associated features, and both dating from the 1690s. These drawings, although in different hands, are the result of fieldwork by the cartographer John Adair (d 1718), whose interest and researches on Roman Scotland are outlined and links with the Oxford antiquarian circle are noted. | |||||
