Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
An archaeological evaluation of 4ha of arable land undertaken in January 1993 involved crop-mark transcription, geophysical survey, excavation and sampling. An irregular alignment of pit-type cropmarks, recorded on aerial photographs, was found to have been largely destroyed by an adjacent gravel quarry. On of the pit-type cropmarks was excavated and a radiocarbon date of 4,360 ± 50 bp was obtained. Both natural and human origins may be proposed for the alignment, but there is no evidence that allows a convincing argument in favour of either interpretation. | |||||||
