The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:		 [ST 3490]. Selective trenching of the basilica and office range of the principia revealed overall dimensions of 66 x 29 metres. Period 1, of stone, was after 80 AD; the building was added to between 120 and 160, when a tribunal was inserted. This period also produced evidence of suggestus, low benches in the aedes. Minor additions took place before the building was demolished in the reign of Carausius, when a major part at least of Legio II Augusta was transferred to Richborough. The date and nature of the legionary evacuation is considered. Appendices cover previous discoveries and the new finds (inscribed stone, bronze statuary, worked stone, plaster, tile stamps and antefix, coins, samian and coarse wares). E W
