A synthesis of evidence based on site notes and finds from a watching-brief and limited recording exercise undertaken in the 1970s on a Roman site discovered during building work. The excavator considered there to be at least two timber-framed Roman buildings present, plus a number or rubbish pits and ditches. Finds included approximately 100 kg of pottery dating from the first to early fourth century AD; box-flue tile; tegulae and imbrices; glass; building stone; quern fragments; a whetstone; a coin of Tetricus; and a bronze and iron fitting.
