A flint-and-stone walled building with an undercroft is interpreted as the Moot Hall of c 1250-1670/80. A documentary survey is included. RB pottery comes from several sites around the Market Place. A boundary ditch, filled in the first half of the 2nd century AD, may be part of the 'eldeworth', the old enclosure which surrounds the Market Place. There was a little prehistoric pottery, and finds of Much Hadham RB ware in the Lower Lea valley are noted, with a gazetteer of Roman coins from Waltham. Au (abr F B/Ed) | |||||||||||||
