Abstract:
TQ 443401. A timber-lined casting pit was installed between 1590 and 1664 at this blast furnace. Features are paralleled at Maynards Gate, Pippingford, and Rockley. Despite stone robbing the position and orientation of the furnace was established; it was refurbished at end 17th century, probably abandoned by 1717. Au(abr)
